So what is the CHAI RUSH?

-Chai or Masala Chai as some people call it, has been major part of my South Asian Identity. It was where people gather around mid-afternoon have sip some chai and munch on snacks. Growing up in the USA with a large extended family and family friends, Chai-time has been a fun loving activity that connects us back to our roots. The page is to provide you with different chai recipes and snack ideas. Most importantly, show you the South Asian Culture[Not just your butter chicken]!

CHAI MENU

The Chai(Tea): This is your black tea which you get at restaurant usually as called “masala chai”.  In Punjab Region of India and Pakistan, Chai is very popular around day time and mid-afternoon. The tea steamed from colonization and now is popular way of welcoming guest and showing hospitality.

Masala Chai Recipe

  • Ingredients

    • One black tea bag-(usually get lipton or tetaly brand black tea)
    • 1-2 cup of water
    • Evaporate Milk or regular milk  (Remember stronger milk gives better taste)
    • 1-2 Cardamom (Optional)

            Prepration

  1. Place black tea in the boiling water and let brew for 3- 5 minutes. The more brewed the tea is, the  better longer tasting aroma comes kicks in!
  2. Add few teaspoon of milk and let it steam for 2-3 minutes-This depends on how strong flavor of the tea you want. I like my tea to be strong!
  3. Sugar is optional                                                                                                                               Masala Chai is Ready!
