My 5 reasons to have tea: I have broken these elements into five categories because I cannot fit my passion for tea into one post. Here is one reason why I have tea-time….
Destress: Stress has become a part of our daily lifestyle. We either stress about your future security or completing our daily task. I have tea-time on a daily basis to help me relax. During college, I used to have tea around 4pm after long hours of classes. My tea-time was simply a combination of green tea and a small snack. Sometimes, I used to go to a local cafe and grab some jasmine tea and snacks. Essentially, my tea-time became an outlet to recharge and rethink. I would sit and look around my apartment and think about all the opportunities college provides instead of thinking how I will succeed. For me, tea-time was a perfectly timewise destress activity because tea provided a calming & refreshing taste and the combination with snack gave me an energy boost.
Fast forward to 2016, I completed grad-school from Cornell and I was very frustrated with looking for a job. This was the first time I encountered racism during a job interview. My tea-time would help me cope with stress and help me refocus on my networking opportunities. I found a job and there I would leave snacks out on my desk. After working in the lab, I would come to my desk to sip some tea and have a snack. After work, I would go home and immediately wash my hands and turn on my kettle. I would take time to set-up my tea table and find new places to eat. This became such a fun activity, I started noticing people on my facebook and instagram would truly enjoy and also found relief in my tea-time. I can go on about the benefits of having tea and tea-time, but at the end of the day it’s my activity to cope with stress. For me, tea-time is very important along with the tea snacks.
